In a ceremony held in the Government Palace, the President of the Republic, Martín Vizcarra, swore in the new Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Eng. Jorge Luis Montenegro Chavesta, who had been serving as Vice Minister of Development and Agrarian Infrastructure and Irrigation of the Minagri. In office he replaces Fabiola Muñoz Dodero.
The new minister is an agricultural engineer graduated from the Pedro Ruiz Gallo University, has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development, at the Jorge Basadre Grohmann National University in Tacna, and with Master’s degrees in Water Resources Engineering, at the National Agrarian University.
In addition, he has extensive experience in the public sector, having held various positions in the Minagri. Between 2014 and 2016 he was vice minister of Development and Agrarian Infrastructure and Irrigation; advisor to the Senior Management of the National Water Authority (ANA), from 2009 to 2014, occupying in this last year, the leadership of the ANA.
